The term digital learning platform was the most searched for in the first half of 2020, courtesy of the LMS boom. And here we tell you everything that happened to make this possible.

Unless you have spent the last 3 months under a rock, you must be tired of hearing about the “new normal” provided by the coronavirus and the global pandemic. This idea talks about the changes that the crisis has brought to the way we relate, work and learn. It also explains the significant increase in the search for the term Learning Management System in the first half of 2020.

The health crisis has forced many companies to adopt the  home office . Which, in turn, forced digital transformation in organizations. Social distancing has made us rethink the way we meet, hire, manage teams and, of course, how we teach our employees.

Therefore, many T&D teams had to start an intense search for learning management systems that would meet the demand of organizations. Raising search numbers on sites like Google and embracing a years-old trend:  corporate distance education .

The search for learning management systems

If you analyze the screenshot below, which we made from the  Google Trends website , you will notice that  the highest peak in the last ten years  for searches for the term “learning management system” on the website took place in March 2020. Not coincidentally, the month in that the first cases of COVID-19, a disease caused by the new coronavirus, were identified in Brazil.

According to a survey carried out by Evolke, in the same period, in 2019, the term “learning management system” had an 11% increase in searches. While the growth for the first half of 2020 was 54%.

But  what does this mean for the corporate education sector  and training and development professionals?
